26. 'Firework' - Katy Perry
"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again. Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin? Like a house of cards? One blow from caving in." Katy Perry has said that the lyrics for her uplifting summer anthem 'Firework' were inspired by the story and symbols in Jack Kerouac's famous American road novel, 'On The Road'. As well as impressing us with its intellectual origins, 'Firework' is the only song that's ever inspired us to truly wonder whether we do, in fact, ever feel like a plastic bag.
