26. Why wasn’t Doja Cat’s 'Vegas' nominated for an Oscar?
Doja Cat had a hit on her hands when she released ‘Vegas’ from the Elvis soundtrack, but due to the fact that the song interpolates Elvis Presley’s ’Hound Dog’, it was unfortunately not eligible for Oscar consideration. Academy rules state that any submissions for Best Original Song must consist of "words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for the motion picture.” [RCA]
