Jade Thirlwall Just Educated A Fan About Why Pride Is Important In The Best Way

The fan questioned why there isn’t a straight equivalent to Pride, and the Little Mix star posted the most eloquent reply.

It’s a well-known fact that Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix prides herself on being an LGBT ally, and she took to her Instagram comments to educate a fan on why celebrating Pride is so important.

After she posted a series of photos of her marching with LGBT charity Stonewall in a Pride parade, a fan questioned why Pride is celebrated, writing, “Can anyone explain why to be proud of sexuality? I mean ok gay can do anything they love but I’m not proud I’m straight so why to be proud of being gay?” [sic]

Jade posted a very eloquent response, teaching the fan about the difference, writing, “Because luckily for you, you’ve never had to experience hate, discrimination or prejudice for being ‘straight’. The LGBT community have had to and continue to have to fight for equal rights worldwide.

“So to openly be yourself and love who you want to love is certainly something to be incredibly proud of.”

Well said, Jade – it’s important to get the message across.
