Ariana Grande issued an apology on Twitter after a comment she made about JonBenét Ramsey garnered negative reactions on social media.
Ariana Grande has apologised after an "out of pocket" comment she made on Instagram garnered criticism on social media.
In a now-deleted Instagram comment, Ariana responded to a friend's post, writing: "I cannot wait for this to be your Halloween look," under a photo of a magazine depicting slain six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey on its cover.
Twitter user @ivanmoratroya pointed out that the violent nature of Ramsey's death made it an inappropriate Halloween costume.
Wait WHAT?? an 8-year-old girl who was violently killed, strangled and suffocated cannot be anyone's costume... pic.twitter.com/MwaAXavyBE

JonBenét Ramsey was a child pageant queen who was tragically murdered in 1996. Her death and the subsequent investigations into her killing have been shrouded in mystery. The murder of JonBenét Ramsey is still an unsolved case.
Ariana apologised on Twitter after the comment began circulating on social media.
"yeah no I deleted it very quickly and understand that it's not at all funny. this was out of pocket and i sincerely apologize," she tweeted.
"I can’t believe that comment Ariana Grande made about Jonbenet Ramsey... how can a grown woman (who knows right from wrong) joke about a murdered child being a Halloween costume ?!" tweeted one person.
"I LOVE Ariana with all my heart and soul but she crossed a line she shouldn’t have crossed. It was very inappropriate and insensitive of her. I know she’s human and I know she makes mistakes I really hope she learns how to be more sensitive of her jokes," wrote another.
