"The Hotties want answers..."
The last few weeks of Hot Girl Summer are upon us, before we make way for whatever seasonal moment comes after (we’re putting our money on Christian Girl Autumn).
Megan Thee Stallion popularised the term 'Hot Girl Summer' earlier this year, telling The Root that the term refers to “women and men being unapologetically them”. “[It’s about] just having a good ass time. Hyping up your friends, doing you, not giving a damn what nobody gotta say about it. You definitely have to be a person that can be a life of the party and just a bad bitch." The term started a worldwide movement, inspiring all of us to live our very best lives this summer. It also offered us a new batch of 'Hot Girl Summer' memes which were super relatable.
But now Megan’s fans are dragging rapper Blackbear for releasing a song with a title that rips off Megan’s movement, called ‘Hot Girl Bummer’. Announcing the single on Twitter, Blackbear posted the artwork and announced the song would be released this week. And Megan Thee Stallion fans, who call themselves ‘Hotties’, are *not* pleased with the news.

You really tried to capitalize off #hotgirlsummer. Like the BUM you are. Can you at least try to be original

Megan has yet to respond publicly to Blackbear effectively naming his song after her trademark - not to mention the song she released with Nicki Minaj just a couple of weeks ago - but in a since deleted tweet, Blackbear did defend his song.
“This song is not a parody & has nothing to do with the other song... It has to do w the caption trend #hotgirlsummer,” he explained. [H/T Alt Press]
