The 'Dance With Me Tonight' star said he was surprised by how well he was received in America.
Olly Murs has admitted that he is hoping to have won the support of some One Direction's fans after supporting them on their recent US tour.
The 'Heart Skips A Beat' singer joined the 'Gotta Be You' group for several dates in America and said he was pleased to get such a good response.
"It's brilliant. It wasn't hard. One Direction's fans, they literally found out I was supporting them, they went online, found out who I was, what songs I've done, my videos and then I walked out [at the] first gig in Detroit [and] everyone's just crazy,: he told MTV News.
"I was like, 'This is insane. They don't even know who I am. How could they be doing this?'"
Speaking in more detail about One Direction's passionate fan base, Olly added: "You know, I'm hoping to convert more Directioners in my corner.
"And if I can have One Direction fans quoting me as well, that would be amazing. They seem to really like what I was doing. So yeah, it's positive."
Meanwhile, both Olly and One Direction can be seen in the trailers for the next series of The X Factor UK.
The video shows several clips of the how the contestants fared in their respective series before ending with a promotional image of the new judging panel , including 2012 line-up addition Nicole Scherzinger.
