Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' 3D movie has beaten Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' in US box office takings.
The teen idol's concert film clocked up ticket sales of $72.2 million (£45.1 million) in America following its release on February 11.
The figure surpassed the previous record set by Jackson's post-humous film by $100,000 (£61,000).
'Proud of 'Never Say Never 3D' and grateful 2 the fans 4 making it the #1 grossing concert doc of All Time!!' Bieber wrote after taking to Twitter.
'MJ is still the greatest! Honored. But regardless thank you thank you thank you to all those that did and are continuing to support Nsn3d around the world. Much love.'
Jackson still holds the global record for ticket sales though having grossed $261 million (£174 million) since the movie was released in 2009, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bieber's film is some way off beating Jacko's after clocking up $10.8 million (£6.6 million) at the international box office.
'MJ is still and always will be the King Of Pop! and worldwide we got a long way to go,' he added. 'MJ the Greatest Ever.'
