Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars and Adele pick up notable wins at last night's big awards ceremony.

Adele was the big winner at last night's American Music Awards in Los Angeles, which also saw the likes of Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, and Rihanna picking up awards.

Nicki Minaj and David Guetta opened the ceremony with a performance of 'Turn Me On', Christina Aguilera took to the stage for 'Moves Like Jagger' with Maroon 5 and Adam Levine later sang 'Stereo Hearts' with Gym Class Heroes.

Katy Perry gave an emotional performance of new single 'The One That Got Away' following which she was presented with a special award for achieving five number ones from her album 'Teenage Dream'.

The star-studded event also featured live performances from Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Drake and LMFAO, who closed with show with 'Party Rock Anthem' and 'Sexy and I Know It'.
