Investigating officers have released CCTV footage of someone they want to speak to in connection with the death of 38-year-old Paul Sandford, also known as Paul Dyson.

Mr Sandford died in hospital on Wednesday 4 November after being assaulted in his home address in Littlehey Close in the early hours of Friday 30 October.

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Robinson, the senior investigating officer, said:

"Mr Sandford was well known and well-liked within the local community. He was quite unwell and was receiving regular hospital treatment for a long-term medical condition, which made him a more vulnerable member of the community that he lived in.

"The footage shows a man walking in the direction of Mr Sandford's house and then walking away from the location a short time later and we believe he could hold vital information.

"Information gathered from witnesses so far indicates that this man is white, aged in his mid 30s and around 6ft tall. He is described as being quite stocky and was wearing distinctive clothing.

"He was wearing a navy coloured Help for Heroes hooded sweatshirt, light-coloured shorts and white trainers.

"We believe that someone wearing those clothes at that time in the early hours would have been noticeable. Did you see anyone like that in the area at the time?"

DCI Robinson added:

"You can also see in the footage that this man walks with a very distinctive swagger, again something we hope people living locally might have noticed."

The family of Mr Sandford has issued the following short statement:

"The family are distraught over the death of Paul. We request any information that will assist with the investigation"

A 29-year-old local man is currently on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of murder last week.
