Fans at Sam Smith's NYC show this week got more than they bargained for… when a true R&B LEGEND joined him on stage!

The 'Money On My Mind' superstar has had a BIG week out in the US, between chat show appearances and gigs, and it seems the UK will have to fight to keep their favourite new artist in the country if the USA has their way!

Sam performed a huge gig at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York City on Tuesday night (17th June), and halfway through he was joined on stage by Mary J Blige for a surprise duet!

The 'Family Affair' singer arrived to perform 'Stay With Me' with rising superstar Sam, with the pair sharing an adorable hug at the end.

Mary's a big fan of our Sam, having previously compared him the iconic soul legends like Luther Vandross.
