The 'When I Was Your Man' star promises some surprises are in store for his set this weekend.
Bruno Mars has promised to "get people dancing and smiling" for his halftime show performance at the US Super Bowl this Sunday (2nd February), while praising guest band Red Hot Chili Peppers as one of his "personal favourite bands of all time".
The 'Locked Out Of Heaven' singer says he "couldn't believe it" when he got the call to perform at the NFL event, and promises to "uplift the people" with his highly anticipated set this weekend.
"I couldn't believe it," Bruno revealed to host Michelle Williams during a press conference Thursday (30th January), reports Billboard. "We were all watching [Destiny's Child] as a band last year when you performed with Beyonce and we were just like, 'Man, what if one day we get the call to do that?'.
"It definitely came soon, but just honoured because some greats have been on that stage," he explained, before refusing to tease any surprise he might have in store. "I want the world to watch. It's only a couple of days, they can hold tight.
Bruno went on to praise his guest performers for the event, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and described them as a "soulful" band.
"I've been a fan of theirs for such a long time, I admire their career," he explained. "They're a soulful band and not just musically, but as people.
"It's an honour to be sharing the stage with them. They're one of my personal favourite bands of all time."
