The 'Superstar' rapper says he wants to return to his "first love" literature.

Lupe Fiasco has announced that his forthcoming new album will be his last.

The rapper said he had no plans to record another album after 'Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1' was released on 25th September.

In a statement on Twitter, Lupe said he planned to return to literature – "my first true love".

"This album will probably be my last. It's been a pleasure to have all my fans provide so much love and inspiration for me and my family," he wrote.

"But my heart is broken and I see no comfort further along this path only more pain. I cannot participate any longer in this.

"My first true love was literature so I will return to that. Lupe Fiasco ends here."

Lupe is still under contract with Atlantic Records but has endured a fractious relationship with his record label, most poignantly around the release of 2011's 'Lasers'.
