Jeffree Star claps back at accusations that he lied about never drinking alcohol

Rumours that Jeffree Star secretly drinks recently started circulating after old photos of him with alcohol went viral on Twitter.

Jeffree Star has addressed accusations that he lies about not drinking after an article was published claiming that he does.

Jeffree Star is no stranger to controversy. Over the past few weeks alone, the beauty vlogger has faced multiple scandals. In November, people allegedly found 'hairs' in their Shane x Jeffree Conspiracy palettes, at the start of this month, Aaron Carter accused Jeffree of copying his merch and, just days later, Jeffree received death threats over his Peppermint Frost palette.

Now, Jeffree is receiving backlash for a completely different reason. The 34-year-old regularly asserts to his followers that he doesn't drink alcohol and in a 2017 YouTube video said: "I have never tried alcohol before. I know that may seem shocking to som people". However, rumours have surfaced claiming that Jeffree secretly drinks and now he's addressed them.

Yesterday (Dec 13), a tweet went viral in which someone wrote: "Okay, whoever wrote this article about @JeffreeStar is being so bitter that it’s funny". They also posted screenshots from the article, which read: "Though Star claims to have never tried alcohol, which we know is a lie, he has a beautiful wine cellar in his house that's perfect to hide his many bottles of vodka that he says he doesn't drink."

The article included a link to tweets from 2011 and 2012 in which Jeffree tweeted multiple references to drinking vodka. He wrote: "when is it too "early" to drink a shot of vodka?" in July 2011 and "Swedish Fish vodka mixed with Capri Sun? YES bitch" in March 2012. People then started posting old photos of Jeffree with alcohol on social media, saying that he must have drunk alcohol before.

Jeffree didn't address the article directly but he did catch wind of the rumours online. Responding to a fan, he wrote: "I know you’re not coming for me, I’m simply responding to a false claim. I live my life so openly, why would I lie about something as silly as alcohol? Though it’s ruined my family, I’ve never tried it…"

He then added: "That may be hard to believe, from my sarcastic tweets and old photos lol".

In other words, Jeffree gets why people may think he drinks but claims that he doesn't.
