The 'We Found Love' singer claims her 12th chart topping single in the US.

Rihanna has equaled Madonna's record for number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after 'Diamonds' claimed the top spot this week.

The 'You Da One' singer also shares the record with The Supremes – who have also charted 12 number ones with the Bajan star now in fourth place for the most chart toppers in the Hot 100's history.

Only The Beatles, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson have had more stays at the summit.

The 'Talk That Talk' singer sold a total of 171,000 copies of the single this week, ending the nine-week run of Maroon 5 with 'One More Night'.

Other number one's from Rihanna include her first ever back in 2005 with 'SOS', 'Umbrella' and most recently 'We Found Love'.

The singer's dominance on the chart is expected to flow over into the album charts, with 'Unapologetic' on course to land the singer her first ever number one album on the Billboard 200.

Her previous best came in 2007, when 'Good Girl Gone Bad' claimed the second spot.

Meanwhile, Rihanna is rumoured to be releasing her Chris Brown collaboration 'Nobody's Business' as the next single release from the record.
