Niall Horan has suggested the band's lead single from their new album could be out in three months time.
One Direction have teased that they may release a new single as early as September.
The UK boy band are back in the recording studio working on new material this month, and band member Niall Horan says they are already working out which song will be the first to be released from their highly anticipated second album.
"We've got to make a decision for a single soon, 'cause we have to get a single out towards September, I suppose," Niall revealed to MTV News this week. "So obviously we don't have a date for that yet, so we're going to have to start thinking, sitting down with the record label, sitting down with management, getting everyone's views."
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' star went on to explain that he and bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson want to retain as much control over their music and careers as possible.
"The way it works for is, I don't know how everyone else works but, people don't see the meetings that we do, the all-day meetings about the album," Niall added. "We want to have the most control that we possibly can of everything that we do, like at the moment I'm just proofreading the single artwork for the next single."
