The Xtra Factor presenter says she has no plans to "edit" the pair's relationship out of her life.
Caroline Flack has defended her relationship with One Direction star Harry Styles.
The Xtra Factor host enjoyed a brief romance with the 'What Makes You Beautiful' singer, before their relationship ended on mutual terms in January.
At the time, the relationship triggered mixed reactions from the public and media, with some publications noting the large age gap between the pair.
But Caroline has defended herself in a new interview, saying she was "surprised" by the response and insisted people were mainly positive about their time together.
"I'm surprised – it's tough. I didn't kill someone, I just went out with someone younger. But there have been more positive reactions than negative ones," she said.

Asked how she had coped with such a public break-up, Caroline replied: "I think girls are quite good at handling break-ups because we deal with it straight away and it makes us stronger.
"Friends are very important; you've got to get up and go out. You just have to remember it does heal, you do move on and meet other people."

In the interview with Look magazine, Caroline also said she would never "edit" their relationship out of her life.
"With the whole Harry situation, about 95% of what was written was false. I didn't really know where to begin," she said. "But I've developed thicker skin and become more hardened to it. I don't get as upset as I used to, but I'm still human."
Caroline has recently resumed her role as a presenter on The X Factor's sister show, The Xtra Factor. One Direction are currently busy preparing for the release of their new album.
