The 'You And I' singer wins the prime slot at this year's awards bash.
Lady Gaga has revealed she'll be the first act to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards in LA later this month.
"I have a really big announcement," Gaga said on MTV.
"But I thought as usual, instead of me announcing it, I'd let the Little Monsters do it for me."
At which point fans of the star revealed a huge black and white banner in New York's Times Square saying Gaga would be opening the show.
The gig revelation comes just days after Lady gaga unveiled her new 'You And I' music video for the next single.
"It means the world to me," Gaga added.
"I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans."
Other names lined up to perform at the event on 28th August include the 'Someone Like You' star Adele and 'The Lazy Song' singer Bruno Mars.
