The 'Bad Romance' star failed to receive a single nomination at this year's awards.

Lady Gaga fans have taken to Twitter to voice their anger after Lady Gaga was not nominated in any of the categories at this year's MTV Video Music Awards 2012.

The 'Marry The Night' singer failed to make the shortlist which was dominated by the likes of Rihanna and Drake – both receiving five nominations each.

The trend "VMAs are nothing without Gaga" quickly began surfacing on the social networking site with users expressing their disappointment at the news.

Alexandro Martin tweeted: "SHAME SHAME SHAME! The Edge of Glory and You And I are not nominated! Marry The Night?! VMA's Are Nothing Without Gaga."

"Seriously, I'm not even going to watch :/," added Hector Morales.

Johan Abraham wrote: "For 3 straight years she was the highlight of the show: paparazzi death, meat dress, Jo Calderone."

In 2009, the singer tied the record for most nominations set by Beyonce after she was shortlisted for 9 prizes and has won a total of 13 so far.

The singer has been involved in some of the biggest moments of the awards over the years including the controversial meat dress she wore to the 2010 ceremony.

Lady Gaga is currently preparing for the European leg of her 'Born This Way Ball' tour and is working on her new studio album.
