The 'Bad Romance' singer was apparantly invited to perform at the 'MDNA' star's show at the Yankee Stadium.

Lady Gaga reportedly turned down an offer to join Madonna on stage in New York during her 'MDNA' tour this month.

The artists have been involved in a war of words of the past year, after the 'Vogue' singer claimed 'Born This Way' was a rip-off of her own hit 'Express Yourself'.

Most recently, Madonna addressed her audience in Atlantic City to tell them the pair would be performing together very soon and said she "loved" the 'You & I' singer before making the comment "imitation is the greatest form of flattery".

"Madonna just called to ask GaGa to perform with her at Yankee Stadium," said the 'Marry The Night' star's manager Vincent Herbert, reports the Daily Mirror. "Her manager reached out to us and said Madonna would like GaGa to perform with her."

However, due to her own 'Born This Way Ball' tour commitments, the US star was unable to make the surprise on-stage collaboration happen.

"She really wished she could do it. She said 'if we do it, let's donate the money to charity'. But GaGa's committed to her own tour," added Vincent.

Meanwhile, Gaga has recently been criticised over her weight-gain during her current outing and has hit out at such media reports revealing she has battled with eating disorders since she was young and her boyfriend Taylor Kinney actually prefers her "curvier".

The singer has also announced her support to the Body Revolution campaign which has linked to her own Born This Way Foundation – launched earlier this year.
