The 'Locked Out Of Heaven' singer says he is a big fan of the rapper.
Bruno Mars has defended Kanye West after he went on a protracted rant during a recent gig in London.
The 'Clique' rapper hit the headlines last month when he criticised Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift during a performance at the Hammersmith Apollo.
In an interview with Capital FM, Bruno, who is a fan of Kanye, said he respects the rapper for "playing by his own rules".
"I don't think you can be mad at a guy that speaks his opinion – whether you disagree with it or not," he told Max.
"It's hard being in the spotlight, you're doing interviews and shows, and you want to just be politically correct so people like you and buy your albums. It takes a lot for someone to be honest in these kind of situations.
He continued: "That is what Kanye West is. He is going to speak his mind, you might not agree with everything that he says, but you know what the guy's telling it like it is in his mind. You can't be mad at that."
Bruno then went on to praise Kanye for continuing to push boundaries with his music.
"At the end of the day, for me it's about his music. I think he's one of the best. I think his albums are incredible and he's pushing the bar [with] every album," he said.
"My album's called 'Unorthodox Jukebox', listen to his albums – his albums are more than hip-hop. You can get caught up in whatever he's saying or stuff, or you can just be a fan of his music."
