While in the past we'd take it for granted that Beyoncé would always come back with a real booty-shaking track, she slows the tempo a little with her latest single.
If I Were A Boy, as the title suggests, sees the sexy singer ponder life as a guy. Lyrics like 'I'd roll outta bed in the morning / And throw on what I wanted then go' suggest that the seemingly glamorous life of being a celebrity diva can get a little tiring sometimes.
She also appears to criticise men's lack of empathy with the opposite sex, saying that she would know to treat a woman properly, as she sings 'If I were a boy / I think I could understand / How it feels to love a girl / I swear I'd be a better man'.
The subject matter will definitely get people talking and, while it's not as instantly catchy as some of her previous hits, we reckon it's a bit of a grower and suggests a more mature sound for her upcoming third solo album, which is due for release on November 17th.
Stay tuned to 95.8 Capital FM to hear the song very soon.
