The 'Crazy In Love' star has also heaped the praise onto Serena Williams for her victory at Flushing Meadows.

Beyonce has congratulated Scottish tennis ace Andy Murray after he became the first British star to win a male singles Grand Slam in the sport for 76 years at the US Open this week and called him "the definition of inspiration".

The Destiny's Child star released a statement on her official website to offer her praise of Murray alongside female singles champion Serena Williams.

Passionate, driven & determined. Andy Murray & Serena Williams shows us that anything is possible," read the message. "Through past injuries, ups and downs, these two stellar athletes took the US Open by storm."

She concluded: "Thank you both for showing us the true definition of inspiration. Congratulations."

The 'Love On Top' singer is a big tennis fan and was pictured with her husband and '99 Problems' star Jay-Z at last year's tournament – when she was still heavily pregnant with first child Blue Ivy.

Meanwhile, Bey has been gushing this week about her experiences of motherhood stating that she "loves" changing her daughter's nappies and that Blue Ivy was "confused" the first time she saw the 'Countdown' star performing.

Beyonce is also reportedly currently working on a new solo album and is expected to unveil two new Destiny's Child compilation records at the end of the year.
