Help A Capital Child

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Help a South Wales Child (HASWC) over the years.

In the last 3 years alone we have supported 80 charities and voluntary organisations by giving out grants totalling £216,000, making a positive difference to thousands of disadvantaged children and young people in South Wales. The great news is that we will be continuing to support disadvantaged children in South Wales through our new charity, Help a Capital Child.

A few examples of recent HASWC awards include funding of musical instruments, sensory equipment, tactile toys, games, and a wheelchair accessible playchute to be used at a group for 10 children and young people with disabilities from the Cardiff area, while in Bridgend support is being given to provide volunteer mentors for young people. Also receiving funding is a group building of a sensory garden to be used by 31 children with complex physical disabilities, from the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff areas, and a grant has been awarded to a child contact centre for life story work for children who have experienced family break-up.

As Help a Capital Child comes into existence sometime in Spring 2011, we’ll be giving you the chance to get involved in a range of events including running events and overseas treks to help raise money, and we’ll also be announcing a big on air appeal later in the year.
