All the latest news and information about the release date, returning cast members, storyline, theories and trailers for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2, airing on Netflix on April 5, 2019.
It's official - Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is THAT show. The Netflix series premiered on October 26 to rave reviews and a huge audience, but what's next? What will happen to Sabrina and the residents of Greendale? Well, it's already been confirmed that a second season is coming so from the release date and the spoilers to all the latest news, here's everything you need to know about Sabrina season 2, released on Netflix on April 5, 2019.
- Season two is coming! And it's a lot sooner than we thought! Yep, it's now been confirmed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 will return to Netflix on April 5 2019. It will consist of 9 episodes and is set to have more magic, and be a LOT sexier.
- Three new characters are also set to join Sabrina season 2! Buffy and Angel alum Alexis Denisof will recur as Mary Wardwell’s boyfriend, Adam who has returned to Greendale after working overseas unaware that his fiancé has been taken over by Madam Satan. Jedidiah Goodacre (Descendants) will be portraying literary character Dorian Gray and Haunting of Hill House's Mckenna Grace, who is almost Kiernan Shipka's twin, will play a young Sabrina.

Speaking to Bloody Disgusting, Kiernan Shipka said: “We went straight into the second season from the first and it’s been really so exceptionally fun to film, especially given the fact that I feel like we’re already in such a rhythm from coming out of the first season that to jump right into the second one was really, really fun and just a great opportunity to keep the momentum going."
So there you have it, season two is all systems go! But what else do we know? Will there be another Riverdale crossover? When will the show be released on Netflix? And what will happen in season 2?
Yes! Thanks to the huge success of Riverdale, Netflix signed up for two seasons of the show straight out of the gate.
Production for the first two seasons of Sabrina (which takes place in Vancouver, next to the Riverdale set) began in March 2018, just after Riverdale wrapped. The cast have been filming the two seasons back to back and are currently still shooting the second season.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 will be released on Netflix on April 5, 2019. It was announced alongside a brand new teaser trailer for season two.
According to Inside Vancouver, filming is scheduled to wrap in December 2018.
Yep! Watch it below!
There will be 9 episodes in Sabrina season 2, one less than season 1. As previously announced, Netflix ordered 20 episodes of the series that would be split into two seasons. That original order of 20 episodes will include the one off Christmas special.
Seeing as none of the main characters died in Sabrina season 1 (except for Billy Marlin but tbh, he deserved), it's assumed that all of your favourite characters will be back.
Of course, Kiernan Shipka will be back as our new witch in charge Sabrina and Ross Lynch will stick around as her now ex-boyfriend Harvey Kinkle.
Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis will return as Aunt Zelda and Aunt Hilda alongside Chance Perdomo's Ambrose Spellman and Sabrina's two best friends Rosalind and Susie, played by Jaz Sinclair and Lachlan Watson.
Father Blackwood (Richard Coyle), Madam Satan (Michelle Gomez), Prudence (Tati Gabrielle), Agatha (Adeline Rudolph), Dorcas (Abigail Cowen) and Nicholas Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood) will also all be returning.
Three new cast members have also been added: Buffy and Angel alum Alexis Denisof who will play as Mary Wardwell’s boyfriend, Adam, Jedidiah Goodacre (Descendants) as literary character Dorian Gray and Haunting of Hill House's Mckenna Grace as young Sabrina.
Season two will pick up right after the events of the season one finale. Sabrina will be a full time student at the Academy of Unseen Arts and will be very different to how she was in the first season.
Speaking to Bloody Disgusting, Kiernan Shipka said: “Sabrina definitely changes and shifts a lot. Her growth is very evident and the second season definitely has a different spin on it than the first season. They are very different from each other.”
She also revealed that we should pay close attention to what happens in the season one finale: “I would just say that, without giving too much away, because it would be a bit of a spoiler, the way that Sabrina’s life takes certain turns and certain decisions she makes inform the second season. The finale of the first season sets up a lot. It goes in a different direction. We see more different characters. It deals with a different side of things.”
Of course, at the end of the season, Sabrina finally signed her name in the Book of the Beast and gave herself over to the Dark Lord. She is now able to be summoned by him and technically, is no longer able to communicate with mortals. Will she stay loyal to the Dark Lord or will she fight her way back to Baxter High to be with her friends?
As for the rest of the characters? Will Sabrina hook up with Nicholas Scratch now that she's not able to be with Harvey? Will Father Blackwood find out about the baby that Zelda stole? Will we ever find out what actually happened to Sabrina's parents? Will Ambrose's curse get lifted? Will Sabrina ever find out who exactly Ms Wardwell is? Will Rosalind lose her sight? Is Dr. Cerberus, Hilda's new love interest, possessed? Is he a warlock? WHAT IS GOING ON?
Hopefully, season two will answer all these questions.
Show runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has said "never say never" when it comes to future crossovers between the two but currently, there are no plans. Then again, given that we've already seen a very very very subtle crossover in season one, it's not out of the question that season two will throw another crossover our way.
Nothing has been confirmed in regards to whether or not the two shows are actually in the same continuity either (Ben died in Riverdale and also appeared to die in Sabrina, so who knows what's going on there), but there's still potential for some very subtle references and maybe even some small cameos.
For now, Riverdale remains a non-magical town, and Greendale remains spooky AF.
