'13 Reasons Why' Star Katherine Langford Auditioned To Play Betty Cooper On 'Riverdale'

The '13 Reasons Why' star could have brought a completely different vibe to the role of Betty.
One of the things fans love about Riverdale is the chemistry between the cast. Riverdale's core four are a solid crew, but one of the main characters on the show could have had a very different vibe.
In a new interview with EW, Camila Mendes revealed that 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford auditioned for the role of Betty on Riverdale.
The full interview is on news stands now, but EW shared that Cami and Katherine actually hung out after their audition.
“I remember we went out and we got falafel with a guy who was auditioning for Archie,” she told the publication. Katherine as Betty Cooper would have been SO different, especially now that we've seen Lili Reinhart in the role for two whole seasons.
The time that Camila describes would have likely been in early 2016, as filming for the Riverdale pilot began in March 2016. A few months later, in June of that same year, Katherine was cast as Hannah Baker on 13 Reasons Why, so everything worked out well for everyone.
We have no doubt that Katherine would have delivered a compelling performance as Betty. Lili's portrayal of the iconic Archie comics character has earned her 5 Teen Choice Awards to date, including Choice Break Out TV Star in 2017.
