Gina Rodriquez announced a CW spin-off of 'Jane The Virgin' called 'Jane The Novela'. The Jane universe is expanding and Gina's character will also narrate the upcoming series.
A pilot for the Jane The Virgin spin-off has been ordered at the CW. This comes along with news that a pilot for the highly anticipated Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene is also on the way. Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriquez shared the exciting news on Twitter, writing that Jane would be "birthing a spin-off" called Jane The Novela.

Jane The Virgin fans will know that Gina's character, Jane Villanueva, is a writer who has been known to pen beautiful love stories. A romantic at heart, Jane pours her imagination into her characters, giving them complicated but fulfilling love stories. Jane's writing has been a huge part of her character development over the show's 4 seasons and even helped her address the grief of losing Michael at the end of season 3.
Season 5 of Jane will be its last and The Novela will be a continuation of the Jane universe. Jane The Novela is reportedly an anthology series and each season will tell the story of a different book written and narrated by Jane, according to Deadline. The first season of Jane The Novela will reportedly take place at a Napa Valley Vineyard.
In the photo Gina tweeted with the Jane The Novela announcement, she's rocking a pretty big baby bump alongside her TV son. At present, it is unclear whether that is a Jane season 5 hint or merely a nice photo of the pair.
Jane The Virgin returns for season 5 on March 27, 2019. Till then, we have no doubt you'll still be obsessing over THAT shock return and what it means for your favourite Jane characters.
