Gossip Girl is back and it looks like casting auditions are about to begin.
Greetings Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl is returning with a reboot and a new cast on HBO Max.
It's no secret that Gossip Girl is one of the most popular teen dramas of all time. Ever since it first aired in 2007, it's amassed millions of fans worldwide. The show may have ended in 2012 but people still can't get enough of the dramatised adaptation of Cecily von Ziegesar's young adult fiction series about New York's elite. A generation grew up watching the wild antics of Serena (Blake Lively), Dan (Penn Badgely) and Blair (Leighton Meester) and people still adore it.

HBO Max have now revealed they're making a spin-off and the release date is coming soon.
Yesterday (Jul 18), Deadline revealed that HBO's new streaming service HBO Max has ordered "10 hour-long episodes of a reimagined version of the pop culture phenomenon." If that weren't enough to get you excited, the brand new version of Gossip Girl will be written and produced by the team behind the original drama. Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran are joining forces again to bring Gossip Girl to a new audience.
Better yet, the reboot will take place in the exact same universe as the original. The description reads: "Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years."
In other words, there is a chance that we could see some of the cast from the first series return to the world of Gossip Girl. Chace Crawford (Nate), recently told Digital Spy that he would "absolutely cameo" in a reboot, exclaiming: "I'd have to!"
Here's hoping that Blake Lively and Leighton Meester would also be keen to step back into their Gossip Girl shoes.
As it stands, none of the new Gossip Girl cast members have been announced, which means that casting auditions are likely still yet to take place. You could effectively be the next Serena or Blair or actual Gossip Girl. A release date is also yet to be announced but TV moves quickly and our guess is that you can expect to watch the reboot as soon as 2020.
And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell.
You know you love me.
