Chase's apology was later deleted from his account, which he says was hacked.
Netflix star Chase Stokes, who stars as John B. in Outer Banks, has apologised for old insensitive tweets and Facebook posts found on his social media accounts.
Tweets resurfaced from the 27-year-old actor's account that contained derogatory, racist, ableist and homophobic language. Teen Vogue reports that they were posted years ago, with one from 2007, another from 2010, and a third from 2013.

After the posts began circulating around the fandom, Chase addressed them and apologised. But after the apology was posted, Chase's account went offline and then returned with the apology and the tweets in question now deleted from his account.
In his apology note, Chase wrote: "I am flawed, and I am sorry. Yes. I will address this. I was not hiding. I consulted in one of my closest friends just as anybody else would. I have posted insensitive tweets. My Facebook has been hacked countless times. The picture isn't even of me or anybody I know."
"Again, I am incredibly sorry. I really am," he continued. "I hope you guys see what I am currently doing and how I am continuing to do the right thing by being respectful in today's climate."
"This does not excuse my words, nor am I excusing myself. I will continue to work towards using my platform in the same capacity I have been and doing/bringing light to the world," he concluded.

But shortly after posting the apology, Chase's account went offline and later returned with the tweets and the apology deleted.
Only two tweets appear on his Twitter profile now. One that reads: "Yo just getting back into twitter. My password was changed, figuring things out. I’m really sorry that this is all happening at once."
And other saying: "Somebody obviously got access to my account. So I’m trying to solve this."

Many fans have defended Chase, with one writing: "Cancelled culture pisses me off. @hichasestokes has grown as a human and those posts were almost 10 years ago. I’ve learned a lot in 10 years, I don’t know about you. Let the man apologize & let him MOVE ON. Your old Facebook statuses and tweets don’t define you."
But others are skeptical about the whole things and have called his apology "confusing".
Chase's Outer Banks co-star Jonathan Daviss also responded to the hate coming Chase's way for "Facebook posts and tweets that happened over 10 years ago many of which were done by hackers."
He asked fans to "move with love and understanding first instead of hate."

He’s already apologized to those who might have been emotionally affected. And I promise you he’s not any of the things people have accused him of being
