In honour of Bi Visibility Day, here's 14 bisexual bops

There are many types of bangers but none are more important than the bicurious banger.

Think we've just made that phrase up? Well, you're wrong. In fact, former PopBuzz staffer Alim Kheraj coined the term many moons ago.

While it might not be a genre per se, bicurious bangers (or bisexual bops) are an important part of the LGBTQ musical landscape, providing a pure pop release from the shackles of heteronormativity. Here's a list of some of our favourite songs about bisexuality to get you in the mood for Bi Visibility Day.

QUIZ: Which bisexual TV icon do you belong with?

1. Demi Lovato - 'Cool For The Summer'

Basically, this is the ultimate bicurious banger. Key lyric: "Take me down into your paradise / Don't be scared 'cause I'm your body type / Just something that we wanna try".

2) Halsey - 'Ghosts'

It's all about the video for this one, in which Halsey cast herself a female love interest. "I’m bisexual so it’s my opportunity to take heteronormativity out of this world of media and culture", she explained in an interview.

3) Lady Gaga - 'Poker Face'

Gaga might be with a guy but she's got somebody else on her mind. Key lyric: "Can't read my / No he can't read my poker face / She's got me like nobody".

4) Panic! At The Disco - 'Girls/Girls/Boys'

Brendon Urie and a girl fight it out for the affection of the same girl. Key lyric: "And never did I think that I / Would be caught in the way you got me / But girls love girls and boys".

5) Rihanna - 'Te Amo'

Rihanna acts coy when she discovers her friend is in love with her but the video suggests she might like her more than she's letting in the lyrics.

6) Christina Aguilera - 'Not Myself Tonight'

Christina telling it like it is on this bop. Key lyric: "I'm kissing all the boys and the girls"

7) Green Day - 'Coming Clean'

Key lyric: "Secrets collecting dust but never forget / Skeletons come to life in my closet"

8) Janelle Monae featuring Erykah Bad, 'Q.U.E.E.N.'

This one comes from a theory by the good folks at The Advocate who suggested the following lyrics might be about Monae's relationship with women. "Hey brother, can you save my soul from the devil? / Say is it weird to like the way she wear her tights? (but I like it) / And is it rude to wear my shades? / Am I a freak because I love watching Mary? (maybe)"

9) Hayley Kiyoko - 'Curious'

She might be known as Lesbian Jesus to her fans, but on this song Hayley playfully confronts a bisexual ex who's got a new boyfriend if "you let him touch ya like I used to?"

10) Lady Gaga - 'Sexxx Dreams'

Can we have two Gaga songs? Because Gaga the girlfriend snatcher is in full swing on this number. Key lyric: "Heard your boyfriend was away this weekend / Wanna meet at my place"

11) The Veronicas - 'Take Me On The Floor'

Key lyric: "I wanna kiss a girl / I wanna kiss a boy"

12) Halsey & Lauren Jauregui - 'Strangers'

Two bisexual legends on one track? This is bisexual culture at its finest.

13) Tove Lo - 'Cool Girl'

There's a few layers to the lyrics, mostly concerning boundaries (or lack of) in relationships. But it's easy to see how lyrics like "No, let's not put a label on it / Let's keep it fun" put this in the wheelhouse of the bicurious banger.

14) Frank Ocean - 'Chanel'

Key lyric: "My guy pretty like a girl / And he got fight stories to tell/ I see both sides like Chanel"
