The 'Someone Like You' singer and US star Taylor are both up for the same award this coming January.
Taylor Swift and Adele will compete in next year's Golden Globes after it was announced that both female artists have scored a nomination for the 2012 awards ceremony.
Both US singer-songwriter Taylor and Adele were announced as nominees in the Original Song category yesterday (13th December), ahead of the official ceremony in January 2013.
Taylor was nominated for her song 'Safe & Sound' with The Civil Wars which features on the soundtrack to last summer's blockbuster hit The Hunger Games, while Adele's James Bond theme 'Skyfall' has been nominated in the same category.
Other artists in contention for the Golden Globes Original Song prize include John Bon Jovi, Hugh Jackman and Keith Urban.
"Best birthday surprise EVER - just found out that 'Safe & Sound' is nominated for a GOLDEN GLOBE!!" Taylor tweeted yesterday, after hearing the news on her 23rd birthday. "Thank you @goldenglobes and HFPA."
