The 'Hanging On' singer says the couple ended things because they never got to see each other.
Ellie Goulding has opened up about her recent split from dubstep producer Skrillex and confirmed the couple split over the long distance nature of their relationship.
The 'Anything Could Happen' says it is "really sad" that the couple had to end things but reassures fans that they still have plans to work together again next year on a whole new project.
"It's literally because we didn't see each other enough," Ellie revealed to The Sun this week. "it's really sad. He's one of my best mates, it's a shame.
"He is a really beautiful person, he's the nicest human being," the singer explained. "It's good just to even have him as a mate."
Ellie went on to confirm that she and Skrillex have plans to work on a "more electronic" project next year, after recently collaborating on a song called 'Bittersweet' for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part Two soundtrack.
"We're even going to make music together next year," she promised. "Out own little project which will be released.
"We work really well together, we've found we really do connect in that way," Ellie explained. "It will be something a bit more electronic, it won't be like my music.
