Beyonce Baby Name Confirmed As Blue Ivy Carter

Gwyneth Paltrow confirms the name of singer's first child.

The name of Beyonce and Jay-Z's first child has been confirmed as Blue Ivy Carter.

The 'Crazy In Love' singer gave birth to the baby girl at Lennox Hill hospital in New York over the weekend.

Initial reports suggested that the child had been called Ivy Blue Carter, but Beyonce's friend Gwyneth Paltrow has now confirmed that the name is actually Blue Ivy Carter.

"Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already," she wrote on Twitter.

Asked by a follower: "Is it Ivy Blue, or Blue Ivy?" Gwyneth replied: "It's Blue Ivy Carter!"

A host of Beyonce and Jay-Z's friends, including Rihanna, JLS star Oritse, Cheryl Cole and the 'Love On Top' star's sister Solange Knowles, have all congratulated the couple on the birth of their first child.

Beyonce's pregnancy has been the subject of huge intrigue since she first announced that she was expecting her first child at the MTV Video Music Awards last August.

The couple married secretly in April 2008 after nearly six years together.
