“I’ve filled in the gaps on what the other siblings were up to in that ten-year span and I’d like to explore those stories as well."

If you're a fan of The Umbrella Academy, you'll already know that we're about to be blessed with a Klaus Hargreeves comic book spin-off series.

In addition to Volume 4 of the main comic, and the Netflix TV show, the mastermind behind it all, Gerard Way, has written a prequel, set 10 years before the events of Apocalypse Suite, in which 18-year-old Klaus gets kicked out of the Academy and ends up in Hollywood. Way revealed that the stand-alone mini-series would be released on 16th September 2020.

The prospect of a prequel series has left fans excited and dying for more glimpses into the past of the Hargreeves siblings. And now, thanks to a new interview with Forbes, it looks like Gerard Way might actually have some more stories up his sleeve.

Prequel series for the rest of the siblings? Maybe so! Way said: “I’ve filled in the gaps on what the other siblings were up to in that ten-year span and I’d like to explore those stories as well."

While it might be a while before we see more prequel spin-offs for each of the siblings, Way has revealed that they are definitely in the works.

Speaking about Klaus’ backstory, he told Forbes: “There are other ideas for sure as far as Umbrella Academy siblings getting their own series, all of them very different from each other — and there are other writers and creators I want to work with on those — but I wanted to bring the focus back to the main Umbrella Academy story arc.”

Allison’s career and a glimpse into her relationship her daughter? Luther in space? Five in the apocalypse? Diego? Vanya?! How exciting.

There’s no word yet on whether or not any of this will appear in the Netflix series, or even get its own spin-off series on the platform. But based on the way that show’s own narrative borrows from the original comic book source material, it could be possible that we could get a short flashback episode based on Klaus’ Hollywood escapades. Robert Sheehan is down for it.

Now everyone say, “Thank you, Gerard Way!”
