The trailer for The Umbrella Academy’s Klaus spin-off
You Look Like Death: Tales From The Umbrella Academy Issue 1 is officially coming out this September.
The world of The Umbrella Academy is getting bigger. Gerard Way has just confirmed when the Klaus spin-off is coming out.
It's hard to imagine life before The Umbrella Academy. The first season of the show took the world by storm when it debuted on Netflix in February 2019 and The Umbrella Academy season 2 is already getting rave reviews. However, day one fans first fell in love with the Hargreeves siblings long before last year. Gerard Way released the first comic all the way back in 2007.

Now, the My Chemical Romance frontman is adding to the franchise with a new Klaus Hargreeves spin-off and he's just revealed the release date.
Taking to Instagram yesterday (Jul 29), Gerard announced: "You Look Like Death: Tales From The Umbrella Academy Issue 1 is coming out on 9/16" He then added: "I’ve always wanted to explore Klaus’ back story and this new series covers his time in Hollywood and his battles with a vampiric drug lord in the 10 years preceding Apocalypse Suite." Sounds iconic, right?
Gerard also released the trailer for the highly-anticipated first issue and, in an interview with Forbes, he teased what people can expect: "Los Angeles is a place where you can very easily lose sight of who you are, and that is what is happening to Klaus in this series. We see him develop stronger habits and explore more extreme things than he had before."
Gerard also revealed that he plans on creating spin-offs for each of the Hargreeves siblings. He said: "I’ve filled in the gaps on what the other siblings were up to in that ten-year span and I’d like to explore those stories as well."
It's currently unclear whether or not You Look Like Death will be adapted into a Netflix series like The Umbrella Academy but Robert Sheehan, who plays Klaus has already said that he wants to act in it if he looks young enough. When asked by a fan at Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo if he'd be up for it, Robert said: "Yes, absolutely!"
Whether a TV version is coming or not, we can't wait to read the comic. Bring on September 16!
