Netflix viewers are feeling emotional after the dog scene in the platform's latest thriller, "The Silence". After bat-like creatures descend on the public, the Andrews family dog appears to meet an untimely end.
Does the dog die in The Silence? Netflix's latest horror thriller is giving fans major A Quiet Place vibes, but it's also leaving viewers with important dog related questions. Nothing hits quite like a dead or abandoned family pet in a movie. Kiernan Shipka's character, Ally, tearfully reacting to her dog being let out is definitely an emotional moment in The Silence.
Toward the beginning of the film, as people are just starting to understand the 'vesps' (the bat-like creatures), uncle Glenn (John Corbett) is involved in a car wreck.
While parked in the middle of the road, the Andrews family somehow realise that the creatures are drawn to noise. Unfortunately, the dog doesn't get that memo and begins loudly barking because it senses the creatures are nearby.
Agitated, Stanley Tucci's character, Hugh, tries to silence the dog, to no avail. An injured Glenn is able to distract the vesps, and draw them away from the family. While the vesps are distracted, Hugh opens the trunk of the car and lets the dog out. Ally cries over the dog who the family has had to abandon.
While, the dog's fate is never explicitly shown, Miranda Otto's character, Kelly, later confirms that the dog is dead. With the vesps on the prowl for anything that makes noise, it's unlikely that the dog survived very long after being let out.
The Silence. Already so many unanswered questions.

Why stay still in a car? The bats can't fly as quickly as a car.
Why even take the dog in the first place?
Where is the American army?
My sister already cried at the dog scene from The Silence
