The Powerpuff Girls live-action reboot will air on The CW.
A live-action reboot of the iconic '90s animated series The Powerpuff Girls is coming to a TV screen near you – but there's some huge changes.
For those of you who don't know, The Powerpuff Girls followed the lives of three sisters – Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup – with superpowers as they fought crime (usually from their infamous nemesis Mojo Jojo) in the fictional city of Townsville. The show originally aired on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005 but received a reboot in 2016, airing its last episode in 2019.

The latest version is going to be nothing like what we've seen before. Deadline reports that the girls will be all grown up to become "disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting".
Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body) will be co-writing and producing the series alongside writer Heather Regnier (Sleepy Hollow, Veronica Mars) for The CW.
No one and I mean absolutely no one has watched the powerpuff girls and thought "hmmm it would be even better as a live action series" https://t.co/xSRaF1gsSy

The Powerpuff Girls is getting a live-action series on CW. In all honesty despite the talent involved, I don't know how this will be pulled off. The show is something specially made to be animated and putting it in live-action seems really weird.https://t.co/HlRgO6zaGh

The Powerpuff Girls live action series on CW is going to be for "adults" and how they "lost their childhoods to crime fighting".

This reminds me when Sega tried too hard to edgy with Shadow the Hedgehog. Just imagine hearing Bubbles called someone a bitch!
