YouTube Has Removed A TERRIFYING Ad For 'The Nun' After Viewers Complained

YouTube took down a short jumpscare ad for The Nun after people flagged it as potentially distressing.
YouTube has stopped running a six-second ad for 'The Nun' after users flagged a jumpscare in it that violated one of its content policies.
The pre-roll ad, which featured frightening imagery of a nun with bloody teeth, played before some YouTube videos and was seen as distressing by some.
Hi @YouTube. I’ve seen a few things on my tl about a jumpscare ad for the new movie about a nun or something and a lot of people are getting distressed because of it. So, if you see this, please don’t put out anymore jumpscare ads, as a bunch of people are distressed.

Twitter users have been sharing warnings about the ad which featured a speaker image (like the kind you see on screen when you mute your device) before a chilling video of a nun appears on screen, accompanied by a loud scream.
YouTube responded on Twitter to one of the warnings, pointing out that the ad actually violated its "shocking content policy".

YouTube's shocking content policy states that "promotions that are likely to shock or scare" should not be used in ad content.

Some users online complained of seeing the ad late at night or at other inopportune times. The combination of the shocking image and loud sound clearly did not sit well with many.
The Nun is a 2018 horror film due in theaters September 7, 2018. It is the fifth installment in The Conjuring series and stars Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) as Sister Irene.
