Shay shared the happy pregnancy news on Instagram and YouTube after opening up about her miscarriage in 2018.
Surprise! Pretty Little Liars alum and Netflix's You star Shay Mitchell just announced that she's pregnant! Yep - she's expecting her first child with boyfriend Matte Babel.
Shay shared the incredible news with her fans on Instagram with a picture of herself showing her baby bump alongside the caption: "Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?"

And in a YouTube video posted on her channel, she details just how long she's been keeping the whole thing a secret and how difficult it has been for her not to share the news with everyone. (A whole six months!! Very difficult!!)
"When you're in the public eye, there are some things that you just wanna keep a secret until you feel ready," she says in the video. "This for me has been the hardest."
Thousands of friends and fans began flocking to her comment section to congratulate her on her happy news. James Charles, Sophia Bush, Ali Wong, Winnie Harlow and several others all shared their congratulations on the post. Lauren Jauregui wrote "WHAT THE HECK!!! Congrats mama!!" while Shay's former Pretty Little Liars co-star Sasha Pieterse posted a ton of heart face emojis in the comments too.
Shay also uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled "Guess Who's Preggers" where she documents her whole pregnancy photoshoot, shares footage of her ultrasound and clips from when she told her family and friends.
She also announced that she'll be sharing her pregnancy journey through a series of videos called 'Almost Ready' on her channel starting July 17th.
"There is something in the oven and it's not my pizza!!! WOW..." she writes in the video description.
"It's kind of surreal processing the fact that another human is growing inside of you. It's exciting, nerve-racking, difficult and emotional all at the same time. Everyone waits for the right time to make the announcement and for me it wasn't until I couldn't hide it anymore and was tired of wearing over sized sweatshirts.
We're beyond excited and looking forward to starting a family. I've learned so much about myself and parenthood over the past 6 months, and feel like I haven't even scratched the surface! It's going to be a wild ride!!"
Guess Who's Preggers | Shay Mitchell
Back in January, Shay opened up about her miscarriage that she had in 2018. In an Instagram post, Shay detailed her personal highlights of the year, and then took the time to open up about something that she hadn't spoken about publicly before.
Shay wrote, alongside a picture of an ultrasound: "Lastly, although it was an amazing year, it didn't come without some hardships. We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life. And sometimes it's easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads many people to criticise it for its lack of authenticity."
"Having so many people follow me on Instagram and read my posts is incredibly humbling and hugely up-lifting. The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams."
She ended the post on a positive note, wishing for more compassion, empathy, patience and thoughtfulness in 2019.
