All the latest news, spoilers and information about the release date, returning cast members, storyline, theories and trailers for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina part 3.
After devouring season two of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, it's time to start looking ahead to season 3.
The second season of the Netflix drama was released on April 5th 2019 and saw a new batch of Satanic drama, a handful of new romances and a whole host of problems head Sabrina Spellman's way. The ending of season two also left fans a little shook over the huge catastrophic events involving Nick Scratch and the Dark Lord - and now we're all dying to know what's going to happen next.
The good news? It's already been confirmed that Sabrina will return for a third season (and a fourth!) on Netflix. But when will it be released? What will happen? Which cast members will return? Here's everything we know so far...
Yes. Sabrina part 3 is officially on the way. It was confirmed in December 2018 that Netflix has ordered two more seasons, to be called Part 3 and Part 4.
Speaking about the renewal, series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said: “Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch and I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
When Netflix renewed the series for parts 3 and 4, they ordered a batch of 16 episodes which will likely be released in two parts, consisting of 8 episodes each. The two seasons will be shorter than parts 1 and 2.
Currently, there is no official release date for Sabrina part 3. Production is set to resume at some point in April 2019 and the show will film the seasons back to back until fall 2019.
If the show follows the same production schedule as season 1 and 2 (released in October 2018 and April 2019), we could end up with a late 2019 release date for season 3 and a spring time release date for season 4. Either way, it's likely that we won't have to wait a whole year until part 3 is in our cold dead hands.
Kiernan Shipka will be back as our fave daughter of Satan, Sabrina Spellman... obviously. Other characters that will return include: Ambrose (Chance Perdomo), Harvey (Ross Lynch), Zelda (Miranda Otto), Hilda (Lucy Davis), Prudence (Tati Gabrielle), Roz (Jaz Sinclair), Theo (Lachlan Watson), Agatha (Adeline Rudolph) and Dorcas (Abigail Cowen).
Despite going on the run at the end of season 2, Richard Coyle should also return at some point as Father Blackwood. Gavin Leatherwood will also likely return as Nick Scratch, who is now a vessel for the Dark Lord.
Michelle Gomez, who reemerged as Mary Wardwell in the season 2 finale, will also return... but will she ever be back as the newly crowned Queen of Hell?
As always with a new season, there will be plenty of new characters and probably a few more minor Riverdale actors jumping in to play some smaller roles on the show.
It's not yet clear whether season 3 will pick up right where season 2 left off but there's still plenty of storylines that need to be explored either way. Sabrina appears to lay out the plan for the third season in the very last scene of season 2: to go to Hell and rescue her boyfriend.
As we see in the final episode, the Dark Lord now inhabits Nick Scratch and has returned through the gates of Hell with Madam Satan/Lilith. Season 3 will likely explore how Sabrina goes about freeing Nick and bringing him back to Greendale. There's also the small matter of Miss Wardwell, who now has her body back after acting as Madam Satan's vessel for the past two seasons. She'll no doubt soon learn what happened to her, and also learn of the death of her fiancé Adam.
Ambrose and Prudence's storyline will likely focus on locating Father Blackwood and the twins and exacting their revenge on his actions at the end of season 2, when he attempted to wipe out the Church of Night.
Zelda is also now the High Priestess. The Dark Lord is no longer the ruler of Hell, so the coven suggests a rebrand to the Church of Lilith. With Father Blackwood's patriarchal dominance no longer in play, expect a female coven powerful enough to rival any warlock.
After the revelation involving Sabrina's true parentage, we'll likely also learn more about Sabrina's mother and father in season 3.
As always, show runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has said "never say never" when it comes to future crossovers between the two but currently, there are no plans.
Season two did not feature an almost crossover like when Ben from Riverdale appeared in season one. And given the way that the storyline is going on Sabrina, it probably wouldn't make sense to throw a mortal from Riverdale into the world of magic right now anyway. But you never know!
There will no doubt be a ton more references to the town across the other side of Sweetwater River in season three.
Not yet, but we'll send out the ravens when it arrives.
