Veronica and Reggie get together in the trailer for Riverdale season 3, episode 9

Things between Veronica and Reggie are heating up, Betty and Jughead are reunited and Kelly Ripa makes her first appearance as Hiram's mistress.

Riverdale season 3 might have just gone on hiatus for the winter but the mid-season finale left us with more than enough to sleuth over, dissect and cry about. In episode 8 ('Outbreak'), we were finally introduced to Jughead's mum and sister, Gladys (Gina Gershon) and Jellybean (Trinity Likins), we saw Betty escape the Sisters, we saw soft Choni (!!!), and we even saw Veronica clock Hiram's long con which culminated in the complete quarantine of Riverdale under the order of Mayor Hermione Lodge.

But enough about that, it's time to discuss what's coming next and judging by the promo for episode 9, it looks like it's going to get even more tense than it already is.

Episode 9, titled 'No Exit', will air on Wednesday January 16, and it will feature a time jump. Archie is still running, the town still seems to be dealing with some after effects of the quarantine, Gladys is back and things are (literally and figuratively) heating up between Veronica and Reggie. It's also the episode in which show runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased a major character "death".

So what's going to happen? Let's do a deep dive of the promo trailer, shall we?

Archie is still on his walkabout with Vegas.

It was real nice of Fred to hand over Riverdale's one true MVP Vegas to Archie but like, the kid can't even fend for himself, how's he meant to keep a dog safe too?! If the dog gets hurt, you're toast, Archibald.

Betty returns to the Sisters for a little more sleuthing.

Lol, is Sister Woodhouse still in there? It's what she deserves. LOCK HER UP! (Also, can Betty please just stay away from this place? I BEG.)

Jughead makes it back in to Riverdale then?

In the trailer, it's clear that he's back at Sunnyside trailer park so it either looks like FP and Jug manage to bypass the quarantine border patrol that was put in place at the end of episode 8 or, they went back to Toledo for a bit until the quarantine was called off.

Archie also looks like he makes it back to Riverdale too...

Of course the first place Archie would go is to Hiram's office... with a weapon, no less. For FUCK sake!

Dilton's bunker gets raided!

NOOOOO NOT THE BUNKER! WHERE WILL BETTY AND JUGHEAD HAVE SEX NOW?!

Hiram's mistress is here and she has a god damn GUN.

I don't know what is going on here but Hiram's mistress (played by his real life wife and legend Kelly Ripa) will be in this episode and she is armed. Who is she shooting? Is it Hiram? Please say it's Hiram...

Bughead are reunited after their brief separation.

Good for them... And the answer to my earlier question is: in Betty's bedroom, I guess.

Gladys has arrived, honeyyyyy.

After an iconic introduction in episode 8, Gladys looks to be sticking around a bit longer. But where is she? Has she driven all the way from Toledo to Riverdale? Judging by this picture (she's wearing the same shirt), it looks like she makes it to Sunnyside trailer park and is once again reunited with Jug and FP.

Veronica and Reggie are burning something...

Is she... is she burning parts of the speakeasy!? WHAT IS SHE BURNING?!

PROTECT JOSIE AT ALL COSTS.

Why does my baby look like she's just witnessed a murder?! Is she ok? What's happeningggggg? I'm scared!
