"Apparently people have a crazy fascination with our age difference," Pete Davidson said on SNL. The comedian appeared on Weekend Update and addressed scrutiny of him and rumoured girlfriend, Kate Beckinsale.
Pete Davidson is no stranger to opening up about his personal life on SNL. When the comedian was engaged to Ariana Grande, he often quipped about his relationship with the super star. This past Saturday (March 9), Davidson spoke about his rumoured romance with Kate Beckinsale, highlighting the double standards in reporting about their age gap.
On Saturday, March 9, Pete appeared on Weekend Update on SNL to discuss R. Kelly, Michael Jackson, and the commentary on his romance with Kate Beckinsale.
The pair went viral last week after photos of them kissing at a basketball game hit the internet. Not that it actually matters, but Kate Beckinsale is 45 years old. Pete is 25.
"Apparently people have a crazy fascination with our age difference. But it doesn't really bother us," Pete explained on SNL.
"But then again, I'm new to this. So if you have questions about a relationship with a big age difference, just ask Leonardo DiCaprio, Jason Statham, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, Jeff Goldblum, Scott Disick, Dane Cook, Derek Jeter, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, and whoever the president of France is, Mel Gibson, Billy Joel, Mick Jagger, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Kelsey Grammer, Larry King, Larry King, Larry King, Rod Stewart, and Donald Trump."
Pete didn't delve into the relationship further than to offer that verbal mic drop.
Pete is right to point out the way the media scrutinises age gaps between stars who are romantically linked. The language we use to talk about older men in relationships with younger women differs vastly from the language we use to discuss older women in relationships with younger men.
Besides, when it comes to Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale, there are far more interesting questions to ask than ones about their age gap.
