Penn Badgley and wife Domino Kirke are expecting their first child

Penn's wife Domino has previously had two miscarriages.

Penn Badgley is expecting his first child with wife Domino Kirke. Yep, just like his You character Joe Goldberg, who is also expecting a baby in You Season 3 – that's the definition of life imitating art.

Domino announced the happy news on Instagram alongside a photo of her baby bump. She also revealed that they had suffered two miscarriages before falling pregnant again.

"On the road again...pregnancy after loss is whole other thing," she penned. "After two miscarriages in a row we were ready to call it. I stopped trusting my body and started to accept the fact that I was done. As a birth attendant, I’ve seen and heard it all. It takes everything I’ve got to detach lovingly from the losses I’ve been present for and be in my own experience.

"When I was pregnant at 25, I knew nothing. I had no community. I dove in blissfully unaware about birth and its mysteries. Now, with 10 years worth of experience to pull from, I treasure my birth community and the knowledge I have. You’re already teaching us how to stay in the day in a way we’ve never had to, little one. Thank you."

Penn and Domino, a talented singer and doula (a non-medical professional trained to help with childbirth), married in 2017 after starting a relationship in 2014. Domino already has 10-year-old son Cassius from a previous relationship and she has previously gushed about what an amazing stepfather Penn is.

Speaking to Us Weekly in October last year, she said: "He's a really good stepdad. He doesn’t have to be 'dad' so he can have more fun with him. It’s really nice. The stepparent thing is definitely uncharted territory for me cause I didn’t grow up with one, but… he takes care of him really well."

While Penn is gearing up for real-life daddy duties, so is his You character Joe. Before Season 2 finished, Joe's girlfriend Love (Victoria Pedretti) was heavily pregnant with a little girl. Production on You Season 3 has just started so we won't have to wait too long to see how this pans out…
