Netflix have officially released the brand new continuation of the iconic series, Rebelde, with a brand new group of characters – and cast members – for everyone to fall in love with. Set at the newly rebranded EWS (Elite Way School), the show focuses on a group of 8 talented students, all wanting to win Battle of the Bands to become musical stars. Get to know the cast here. Azul Guaita plays Jana Cohen Gandía in Netflix’s Rebelde. Jana is an already established popstar, managed by her mother, who wants to make more serious music and study at EWS. Prior to her role on Rebelde, Mexican actress Azul Guaita was best known for playing Renata on Amazon Prime Video’s Súbete a mi Moto, Susana Vega on thriller series La Negociadora, Camila on Soltero con hijas and Yolotl on Mi marido tiene familia. Sergio Mayer Mori plays Estéban Torres in Netflix’s Rebelde. Estéban is an exceptionally talented scholarship student at EWS, who turns down a spot at a prestigious conservatory in favour of studying at the school. Outside of acting, Sergio is a musician and a model. The 23-year-old has appeared in 2016 movie The Patriarch, and has also acted opposite his parents. His mother is actress Bárbara Mori, and his father is actor and politician Sergio Mayer. [Netflix]
Franco Masini plays Luka Colucci in Netflix’s Rebelde. Fans of the original series will do doubt recognise the surname… Luka is part of the Colucci family, and has dreams of becoming a singer. Franco is a well-known musician himself, and the Argentine actor has a number of TV credits to his name too, including US series Riviera (where he played Cesar), Love After Loving, Cuéntame cómo pasó, My Lovely Hope, Señales del fin del mundo, and the Argentine Disney XD sitcom series Peter Punk. Jerónimo Cantillo plays Guillermo a.k.a. Dixon in Netflix’s Rebelde. Dixon is an aspiring rapper and beatboxer from Colombia. Jerónimo himself is also a musician, having released a series of songs all of which are available to steam on Spotify. On-screen, Jerónimo is best known for his roles in Los Morales (as Kaleth Morales) and Verdad Oculta (as Patrullero Yeison Vergara). [Netflix]
Lizeth Selene plays Andrea Agosti a.k.a. Andi in Netflix’s Rebelde. Cool girl drummer Andi arrives at EWS, eager to get away from her mother and her mother’s unsupportive boyfriend. Lizeth is fairly new to the acting world. She previously appeared in Netflix’s 2021 comedy Bankrolled as Borealis. Much like several of her co-stars, Lizeth is also a musician and model in real life. She has appeared in campaigns for the likes of MAC Cosmetics and Nike. [Netflix]
Andrea Chaparro plays María José Sevilla a.k.a. M.J. in Netflix’s Rebelde. MJ was brought up in California by her religious parents, but returns to Mexico to enrol at EWS. Andrea has a handful of on-screen credits to her name. Her first role was in Netflix’s 2021 film The House of Flowers: The Movie. She’s also appeared in No fue mi culpa: México as Rosaura. [Netflix]
Giovanna Grigio plays Emilia Alo in Netflix’s Rebelde. Emilia is the Queen Bee, style icon and the most popular girl at EWS. Brazilian actress Giovanna is best known for on-screen roles in shows like Malhação: Viva a Diferença and As Five (as Samantha Lambertini), Êta Mundo Bom! and Chiquititas. [Netflix]
Alejandro Puente plays Sebastián Langarica a.k.a. Sebas in Netflix’s Rebelde. Sebas is a senior at EWS, and is one of the stars at the school. He and Jana are already a popular couple but he also appears to have a thing with Emilia too. Prior to joining the cast of Rebelde, Alejandro’s most notable role was in Netflix series The Club as Santi. He’s soon set to appear in MexZombies. [Netflix]
Estefanía Villarreal plays Director Celina Ferrer in Netflix’s Rebelde. Celina, who appeared in the 2004-2006 series of Rebelde, is now the director of EWS. Rebelde was Estefanía’s first major on-screen role. Her more recent roles include Nora in Y mañana será otro día mejor, Frida in Waking Up with You and Doris in I Don't Trust Men Anymore. [Netflix]
