Iman Vellani is Pakistani-Canadian. She was born in Karachi, Pakistan and moved to Canada when she was just one years old. Her parents are Ismali Muslim. Discussing her ethnicity and Ms. Marvel with Tribune, Iman said: "Filming the show, I learned so much about my ancestry. That’s such a special thing I get to share with the character.
