Hannah And Zach's secret relationship in 13 Reasons Why season two has EVERYBODY talking.

13 Reasons Why has got a lot of people talking this weekend, for better and for worse. One of the more positive things to come to light in the second season was the secret relationship between Hannah Baker and Zach Dempsey.

In season one, we learn that Zach had a crush on Hannah. When she refuses his advances and embarrasses him in the lunch hall, Zach gets his revenge by stealing and throwing away notes meant for Hannah in the Brown Paper Bag Program, which was a much-needed lifeline of comfort and confidence for her. Hannah figures out that Zach has been stealing the notes, so she confronts him in the form of a note. On her tape, she claims Zach threw it away, but it is later revealed that he kept it.

We've got to be honest: we didn't think much about Hannah and Zach's relationship in season one. Sure, Zach did a mean and petty thing, but he was far from the guiltiest on the tapes. Well, it turns out there was A LOT more to the story.

Remember in the first season when Hannah said she spent the whole summer working, getting a haircut and nothing else? Well guess what, bitch? She lied.

In episode 6, The Smile at the End of the Dock, it's time for Zach to give evidence in court and the school's lawyer, Sonja, asks Zach about his relationship with Hannah. There it is revealed that the two had a secret relationship over the summer.

It all starts with Zach apologising to Hannah at the Crestmont cinema for stealing the notes. Zach then starts going to see films just to speak with Hannah. Eventually, he asks Hannah if they can watch a film at her place

After getting to know one another, the two take a trip to the seaside. There, they confide in each other that they are virgins and Hannah asks Zach if he'd like to have sex with her (bold move!) Eventually, they have sex and it's actually a very sweet and pure moment - just like they both had hoped it to be.

After dating all summer, it all goes to shit when school starts again. Zach wants to keep the relationship a secret, which obviously hurts Hannah. Eventually she calls it off, a little more broken than she was before.

It's a whirlwind romance and, despite being very committed to the Clannah ship, I found I was rooting for them to be together. The internet seems to agree.

The people have decided. It should have been Hannah and Zach, not Hannah and Clay. God damn.
