Gypsy Rose Blanchard reacts to Joey King's Emmy nomination for The Act

While she congratulated her on her Emmy nomination, it's now been said that "Gypsy has ZERO interest in meeting Joey."
By now, you will probably have heard of Gypsy Rose Blanchard's tragic real life story. Back in 2015, Gypsy was involved in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee, who was believed to have suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy - a condition that causes people to "fabricate or induce illness in a person under their care."
Dee Dee fabricated multiple illnesses on behalf of Gypsy Rose right up until her death. Their story was dramatised in 2019 for Hulu's The Act, starring Joey King and Patricia Arquette.

Joey was nominated for an Emmy for her powerful performance as Gypsy Rose last week (July 16). Patricia, who plays her on-screen mother Dee Dee, was also nominated.
Despite receiving critical acclaim, the show itself has copped some backlash from the real Gypsy Rose (who is currently serving prison time) and now, she has weighed in on how she feels about Joey's nomination, via her family spokesperson.
TMZ reports that Fancy Macelli, a spokesperson for Gypsy Rose's family, says "Gypsy sincerely congratulates Joey for nailing the role and mastering her look, voice and mannerisms. That being said ... Gypsy has ZERO interest in meeting Joey following the Emmy nom because Gypsy is adamant the story line in Hulu's limited series is inaccurate ... and by meeting with her, it would validate the series' narrative."
Back in April when The Act was airing on Hulu, Gypsy opened up about how she felt about Joey King portraying her.
Speaking to E! Online, Macelli said: "[King] was someone [Gypsy] really liked. She was very excited about Joey portraying her." However, Fancy then went on to add: "But she's very unhappy with the actual series itself."
Gypsy also had many concerns about the series in general, writing in a statement to Bustle: "I am unable to watch The Act. However, I feel it is very unfair and unprofessional that producers and co-producer Michelle Dean has used my actual name and story without my consent, and the life rights to do so. Therefore, there will be legal action taken against the show's creators."
So, while Gypsy is a fan of Joey, don't hold your breath waiting for a meeting between the two.
