Thor and Valkyrie almost had a very spicy moment in the closing scenes of Endgame.
It's been a few weeks since the release of Avengers: Endgame now and we are all still in our feelings about it. The spoiler ban has lifted, behind-the-scenes videos are now being shared by the cast and the directors, the Russo brothers, are spilling all the deets on characters that were removed and scenes that got tragically cut.
The REAL meaning behind Avengers Endgame's "I love you 3000" will ruin you
A lot of deleted scenes have already been revealed - including Katherine Langford's role as a grown up Morgan Stark in a 'way station' after Tony snaps his fingers. And now, it's been confirmed that an awkward moment between Thor and Valkyrie was cut from the end of the film which sounds absolutely awks.
At the end of the film, Thor returns to New Asgard and hands the Kingdom over to Valkyrie. She becomes the new Queen of New Asgard and Thor leaves with the Guardians. It was a really nice scene between two friends after all the carnage that came with Thanos but originally, it didn't end there.
Speaking to Sirius XM, director Anthony Russo revealed that Thor originally tried to kiss Valkyrie in the scene. Yep. It's true.
“In the endings we felt like we wanted to keep it a little tight, so we were looking for some stuff to squeeze there,” Russo said. “He had this beat with Valkyrie where after he sort of turns over the kingdom to her; she puts her arm on his shoulder.”
“He sort of starts to lean in for a kiss, and she goes, 'What are you doing?' And he goes, 'Oh, I thought the touch.' She's like, 'Yeah, it's a goodbye touch. A tap I'm giving you.' It was a really funny beat but we cut it.”
Joe then added: "It was cute. It was mostly improvised by the two [actors]. It was very funny."
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Well! Ok then! To be honest, it was probably a good thing that they cut that - Thor really didn't need to be the punchline to anymore jokes in the film. Fans have been pretty vocal about Thor's storyline in Endgame, pointing out that using his overwhelming grief as a punchline was very messy.
