"All I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I've known about any season."
By now, you would imagine American Horror Story's main staple Sarah Paulson would have some sort of clue as to what Ryan Murphy is about to ask her do for the next season of the series, right? Wrong. Turns out, Paulson knows absolutely nothing about the new season. In fact, she's not even sure she's in it.
It was announced last week that the ninth season of American Horror Story would be titled '1984'. In a teaser dropped by Murphy, the visuals point towards a summer camp slasher season set in the past.
Evan Peters says he will not be returning for American Horror Story season 9
But despite dropping the title and a teaser relatively early (compared to previous years), it sounds like most of the cast members are still very much in the dark about it. Including Sarah Paulson, who has played a main role in every season of the series.
Speaking to Syfy Wire about the next season of AHS, Paulson revealed that she hasn't actually got much information on the season yet.
When asked whether or not she'll be back for another season, she replied: "I don't really know the answer to that. I think... all I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I've known about any season."
"I don't even know...yeah, that's all I can say," Paulson said. "I think that's all I can say. Usually, I have more information at this point, and I'm bugging Ryan with questions. Right now, I don't have a lot and yeah, I'm so busy with Ratched, it's hard for me to think about anything beyond that."
Well, it's not a no!

It's not unusual for cast members to be so in the dark about the new season, nor is it unusual for them to avoid giving a definitive answer when asked about it. Angela Bassett was adamant she wasn't going to be in Apocalypse until she actually showed up in Apocalypse. And besides, it's only April - based on announcements from the past few seasons, it's still quite early in the process anyway.
Here's hoping she gets a deliciously evil character to portray in AHS: 1984.
Paulson is currently filming Murphy's Netflix series Ratched, which is based on the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. She's playing the titular role.
Murphy has already announced two cast members for AHS: 1984 in the form of Emma Roberts and Olympic Skiier Gus Kenworthy. Evan Peters, who has appeared in every season of AHS so far, will be not be starring in this season.
