Alex Wolff plays the role of Peter Graham in Hereditary, the son of Toni Collette’s Annie and brother of Charlie, played by Milly Shapiro. He said it’s his hardest and most terrifying role yet. “I was getting sick, but I was getting sick off-camera, too. I would feel so sick in bed. I lost a ton of weight doing it because I was so upset,” he told W magazine. [A24]
While Alex Wolff didn’t dislocate his jaw in Hereditary’s classroom scene, he did sustain a pretty gnarly physical injury. Speaking to the Wrap, Alex said that he wanted to actually do it for real, but Ari Aster said no. A ‘soft cushion desk’ was brought in but it wasn’t as soft as Alex thought it would be. “I remember after, I was just panting, my voice is gone, blood is dripping down everywhere — real blood gushing down my knee because I slammed it against a chair. I couldn’t move my arm."
Hereditary was not Alex Wolff’s first big screen role – he’s actually been in a ton of popular movies and you’ve probably seen him before. Alex played the role of Bennett in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 and took on the controversial role of the Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev alongside Mark Wahlberg in Patriot’s Day. He's also been in both Jumanji films, Pig and Old. [Universal Pictures]

In an interview with Vice, Alex Wolff revealed that the filming of Hereditary took such a toll on him mentally and emotionally, he thought he had some sort of PTSD from the experience. "It stuck with me while we were filming, and it stuck with me well after. When I started talking about it, all these flashes with all this disturbing shit I went through sorta came back in a flood … I don’t think you can go through something like this and not have some sort of PTSD afterwards,” he told Vice.
