The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' star has updated fans on her next studio record.

Taylor Swift has revealed that work on her new studio album is "way ahead of schedule".

The '22' singer says she is exit to have found a different sound for her next record already, the follow-up to her 2012 release 'Red'.

"I'm so obsessed with where it is right now because I think, of me, the goal is that we start coming up with a sound that's different from everything that we've done before," Taylor said at the American Music Awards over the weekend, reports Rolling Stone. "Having come upon that so early in the process is just really thrilling.

"I've got a lot of time to write more, but it's really looking promising for far," Taylor explained, before teasing: "It's way ahead of schedule."

The singer also told Billboard that she has some songs ready that she knows will be included on the record.

"There are probably seven or eight [songs] that I know I want on the record. I'm just stoked because it's already evolved into a new sound, and that's all I wanted. And I would have taken two years to make that happen, but it just kind of happened naturally, so that's all I could really ask for."

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift was the big winner at the American Music Awards 213 over the weekend winning four gongs in total - including the coveted Artist Of The Year for a third year running.
